The Tinebot was built as a final project for a college electronics course in 2019. It is esentially a jankier version of mitxela's similar device.
It used a Teensy, 2 PIC24s, and 8 servos with laser-cut plastic fingers to take the place of the paper tape in a paper tape music box.
This is the video we turned in to our professor, and as such, is moreso intended for her than a genreal audience. However, it probably does the best job explaining the device of any material I currently have, so I have included it here anyway.
We called the device "Version 1" because there are some obvious flaws with it, and I wanted to leave the concept open for improvement. In particular, the control board could be streamlined by using more appropriate hardware, and I'd also like to try using solenoids instead of servos in the tine-plucking mechanism. This might allow for faster and more reliable note playing, and is something I was envisioning from the beginning, but for which our 30 dollar budget did not allow.
